The fascinator is a small hat that is usually worn on the hair.

It is a beautiful hat that stands out wherever it appears. Most times, it is clipped to a side of the hair.

Fascinators are mostly worn to wedding ceremonies, cocktail parties, charity events, and other corporate events.

You might wonder why it’s necessary to own a fascinator if you’ve never really needed one.

But that does not take anything from the usefulness of having one, especially if it can be worn for different occasions and it wouldn’t be out of place.

For that, here are five reasons why you should absolutely own a fascinator.

It’s an affordable way to make a fashion statement

First, ready-made fascinators are not outside your budget range. They are incredibly affordable as opposed to other fashion decors. With no major financial inconvenience, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t get yourself a fascinator.

It’s classy

The fascinator is a classy fashion piece that you can always rely on to give you a stylish look. It doesn’t go out of fashion. A timeless addition to your closet, you should definitely consider getting one.

It’s less complex than other options

With a ready-made fascinator, there’s no stress or complex fitting you need to do. All you have to do is get it fixed right and you are good to go. It saves you a lot of time when you have to prepare for an event and you are running out of time.

It’s the perfect wedding fashion piece

Instead of worrying about what to make you look good for the wedding you have to attend, just get yourself a fascinator. The fascinator will do more justice to your selected outfit than the headpieces you may have already selected – it comes in different designs, styles, colors, and sizes that will complement your attire in the most beautiful and attractive way.

It saves you from bad hair day

There’s no time for you to style your hair perfectly? Don’t worry. The fascinator is a good substitute. The beautiful thing about a fascinator is that it doesn’t require a great hairdo. You can have your hair looking all bland and the fascinator will switch it up perfectly, leaving you looking like you just got off a runway.

Let’s also see a brief history of the fascinator

The term ‘fascinator’ was first connected to headwear and this was in the mid-19th-century United States. In this context, a fascinator was a lightweight hood or scarf worn about the head and tied under the chin. It was usually knitted or crocheted. The earliest citation identified by the Oxford English Dictionary for the use of the word in this sense is from an advertisement in the Daily National Intelligencer of December 1853.

The fascinator was made from soft, lightweight yarns and may originally have been called a “cloud”. The “cloud” is described in 1871 as being “a light scarf of fine knitting over the head and round the neck, worn instead of an opera hood when going out at night”. The fascinator went out of fashion in the 1930s. During this period, it was described as a lacy hood similar to a “fussy balaclava”. Asides the shared terminology, these fascinators were nothing like the modern headpiece.

The term “fascinator” was later used towards the end of the late 20th century to describe a particular form of late 20th and early 21st century millinery. It’s also been said that it was used as a term for 1990s designs which was inspired by the small 1960s cocktail hats. These hats were designed to perch upon the highly coiffed hairstyles of the period.

How To Slay In Different Skirt Styles

How To Slay In Different Skirt Styles

Skirts come in a wide variety of lengths and types. This comprehensive guide explains the differences and how to wear them. As with all apparel, skirts can be made in a variety of different fabrics — which typically determines if the skirt is casual, professional, or suitable for evening wear.

Short Skirt Styles

Nothing showcases a great pair of legs like a short skirt. These hit above the knee, but they still come in several shapes and fabrics to suit almost any occasion (except maybe school or work).

Mini-skirt

Mini-skirts can be paired with a variety of different tops, depending on the situation and one’s personal style. For a night out with friends, a tighter, more fitted top would be appropriate; for a more casual day out, it would be best to wear a more conservative top – long sleeved, with a looser fit – to balance out the shortness of the skirt.

The mini-skirt is best worn by younger women with either an apple-shaped body type or boyish shape.

To pull off the mini-skirt style in a more modest way, pair the skirt with leggings or tights for a stylish look that doesn’t show extra skin.

This skirt is best worn in the evening at formal occasions, with a fitted top.

It is best worn by apple-shaped ladies.

Pleated skirt

Traditionally associated with private school uniforms, the pleated skirt has become ubiquitous in recent years. The effect varies based on size of the pleats.

For example, thicker pleats are more reminiscent of schoolgirl days, whereas thinner pleats are more contemporary and on-trend.

The pleated skirt can come in a variety of lengths – mid-thigh (mini), knee-length, calf-length (midi), and even maxi. A more modern take on the skirt is using fabrics like leather or chiffon, as opposed to the more traditional wool-blend.

This type of skirt is best worn with a top tucked into the waistband.

Pleated skirts can be worn by women of all body types and shapes.

The A-Line skirt, when laid flat, forms a triangle shape where the skirt flares out gently from the waistband.

The A-line skirt is traditionally knee-length, making it an appropriate choice for most occasions.

This style is perfect for pear-shaped ladies as it emphasizes the waist and does not cling to the hips.
